Original Shapes

These original shapes were created to demonstrate the two-dimensional design principles, such as contrast, repitition, etc.

All of the shapes are 4"x4" and created in Adobe Illustrator.

The top left shapes were the result of my first exploration of the design principles.

The top right shapes were created from taking one of my original shapes, and cropping it within the 4"x4" square to further demonstrate design principles.

The bottom two designs, in addition to exhibiting design principles, demonstrate high, mid, and low key (represented in that order, from top to bottom, in each photograph). The first does not incorporate value, while the second does.

In regards to the exploration with key, I attempted to stay away from blends where, from a distance, grey values are percieved even though only black and white is used. Instead, I explored ideas of white space, figure ground relationships, and gravity within the designs.
